If it's a conference lanyard pack, the plastic click at AU$0.95-$1.50 is doing exactly the right job: bold barrel colour, a one-line brand tagline that makes someone pause, a reliable German-ink refill so the first click actually writes. If it's a boardroom signing moment, you're in metal twist or executive rollerball territory — weight in the hand is the first thing people notice, and laser engraving on brushed aluminium or satin chrome reads as quietly premium in a way print never will. Barrel material drives the whole register. Plastic clicks (ABS, recycled ABS, wheat-straw composite) are the everyday workhorse and carry full-colour UV wrap beautifully. Bamboo and recycled-kraft-barrel pens are the go-to for sustainability stories — natural grain variation is the point, not a flaw. Metal pens (aluminium, brass, stainless) hold engraving crisply and give you the heft that executive audiences register unconsciously. Leather-wrapped barrels are for legacy gifting, where the deboss is the only decoration it needs. Branding method is the second decision. Pad print (1-4 colour) is the most common method on curved plastic and bamboo barrels — good for logos up to about 40 x 8mm.
